Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 8:30AM to 5:30PM Hampton, VA Time (1PM - 2PM unpaid lunch break)
Friday, 8:30AM to 3:00PM Hampton, VA Time (no break, and the office leaves early for the day. Friday is a short day).
8 hours per day, 32 hours per week
Job Summary
A Medical Scribe is a healthcare professional tasked with improving the efficiency of patient documentation and record-keeping. The scribe works closely with physicians or healthcare providers, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, medical histories, diagnoses, treatment plans, and other critical information. This role allows providers to focus more on patient care while maintaining high-quality and detailed medical records.
Key Responsibilities
Documentation Support
Record accurate and detailed information during patient encounters, including medical histories, physical exams, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions.
Document consultations, procedures, and physician notes in real time, adhering to medical coding and compliance standards.
Administrative Assistance
Update and manage electronic health records (EHR) efficiently.
Assist in preparing medical documents, including referrals, prescriptions, discharge summaries, and diagnostic test orders.
Ensure proper documentation of medical charts for insurance claims and billing purposes.
Communication
Relay messages between patients and providers when appropriate.
Coordinate with medical staff to ensure seamless patient flow and reduce delays.
Compliance and Confidentiality
Adhere to HIPAA and other healthcare regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
Follow organizational policies for record-keeping, data security, and patient care.
Qualifications:
Excellent customer service skills
Be able to transcribe effectively for physicians, (preferably for podiatrists)
Be able to be a team player and problem solve
Prior experience as a medical scribe or in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Familiarity with EHR systems is advantageous.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
Exceptional typing and transcription skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
